Overview

Because mission-critical next-generation applications require constant availability and real-time responsiveness, they demand a level of network reliability that no single network provider can guarantee on its own. Today, equipment failures, power outages, or cyber incidents can disrupt service and prevent applications from working. This project introduces the Intelligent Resilient Overlay NextG Network (IRONN), a software framework that sits on top of existing networks to stitch together services from different providers. Using artificial intelligence (AI), IRONN can predict network failures before they happen and automatically reroute data or reconfigure the applications deployed on edge computing resources. This project will integrate its findings into university curricula and partner with high school outreach programs.
